Marquez Responds To Valentino Rossi's Comments On Rivality

Marc Marquez opened his voice about his name not being included in Valentino Rossi's rival list (Instagram/@ducatisse).

JAKARTA Marc Marquez opened his voice in response to Valentino Rossi's comments not to include himself in the rival list during his career in MotoGP racing.

The racer nicknamed The Baby Alien said that he was not in The Doctor's rival because they had never competed for the title.

"Because we have never fought for the title (world champion)," said Marquez ahead of the 2025 Indonesian MotoGP race at the Mandalika Circuit this weekend.

Rossi recently launched a new pattern (livery) for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team selected to name names such as Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo, Max Biaggi, and Dani Pedrosa as his biggest rivals.

Of the several names, Lorenzo is also considered the main rival. Apart from having shared a team, they were also directly involved in the race for world champions, including the controversial one in 2015.

"It's hard to say what's tougher. Maybe Lorenzo because we've been in the same team for a long time, this is not just a rival, but also a love story," said Rossi.

This comment then raises questions because when Marquez won six world titles, Rossi was still actively racing.

Many were surprised that Rossi did not include Marquez. The reason is, they competed together since Marquez debuted in 2013 until Rossi retired at the end of 2021.

However, many have been prejudiced by the comments because of the tenuous relationship between the two since the fierce dispute that occurred during the 2015 competition season.

It was the only season Rossi managed to beat Marquez, but lost the title in the last round against Lorenzo. A victory much remembered as the most controversial.
