JAKARTA The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI/NOC Indonesia) has requested that Indonesia not be provoked by sanctions from FIFA against the Malaysian Football Federation (FAM).

This is in response to a wild issue that states that Indonesia is behind the sanctions from FIFA against Malaysia. Not only Indonesia, Vietnam was also dragged into this issue.

The President of NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, emphasized that the allegations were baseless and have the potential to damage the good relations that have been established between Indonesia and Malaysia in the world of sports.

"Don't be weird, our relationship (Malaysia and Indonesia) has been good so far. Don't be damaged by people who don't understand anything. Don't be provoked," said Okto, Raja Sapta Oktohari's nickname, in his official statement.

FIFA in release on Friday, September 26, 2025, officially sentenced seven Malaysian National Team (Timnas) naturalized players to a fine of 2,000 Swiss francs (equivalent to Rp41.8 million) and a ban on activities in football for 12 months.

In addition, FIFA also fined 350 thousand Swiss francs (equivalent to Rp7.3 billion) for FAM for falsifying naturalization player documents.

The seven players convicted were Gabriel Felipe Arrocha, Facundo Tomas Garces, Rodrigo Julian Holgado, Imanol Javier Machuca, Joao Vitor Brandao Figueiredo, Jon Irazabal Iraurgui, and Hector Alejandro Hevel Serrano.

Okto believes that FIFA certainly acts professionally and must have clear mechanisms and regulations in deciding sanctions against FAM.

"There can be no sanctions taken based on intervention and considerations from other countries. So, there should be no party who deliberately distorts the facts," said Okto.

Okto further considered that the issue that developed was only a form of provocation that could potentially cause misunderstanding.

"Sports should be a unifying tool, not a divider. We must maintain the value of sportsmanship, fair play, and solidarity, especially with Malaysia, which is our brother," he said.
