JAKARTA Jonathan Christie praised the aggressive performers of his junior Alwi Farhan during their match in the semifinals of the Korea Open 2025 which he managed to win in three games.
The fourth seed Jonatan successfully locked the ticket to the final round after winning with the final score 18-21, 21-14, 21-15 at Suwon Gymnasium, South Korea, on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at noon WIB.
In these clashes, Alwi stole victory in the first game after trying to bounce back from behind. He also played aggressively in the two games after that despite failing to take a significant lead over his senior.
"Seeing Alwi's appearance playing like earlier was beyond expectations, but not surprised by the few times he was able to beat the top players. It looks very clear impact," said Jonathan after the match.

This is Alwi's first semifinal in the BWF Super 500 level event. Unfortunately, his dream to enter the final round could not be realized against the idol.
Alwi said that he could learn a lot in the match against top players like Jonathan, especially how to control the mind when depressed and more consistently maintain focus.
"It's quite nice to get to the semifinals of Super 500 for the first time, but not satisfied for sure. There are still many targets to be achieved and I will continue to improve myself, improve performance," he said.
As for Jonathan, this is his second final after the Indonesia Masters event last January at Istora Senayan, Jakarta. At that time he was satisfied to close his journey as runner-up after losing against Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
"Tomorrow I want to enjoy the match, enjoy my second final, but I will also do my best, try my best with what I can," said the badminton player who is familiarly called Jonatan.
In the final round tomorrow, Jonathan will meet first seed Anders Antonsen from Denmark, who is entering the final stages of the tournament after repatriating third seed Chou Tien Chen from Chinese Taipei.
Jonathan has so far been narrowly ahead of a 6-5 win-loss record in a competitive match against the world-ranked badminton player. However, in their two latest clashes Antonsen managed to win the match.
