FIFA President Prays For The Indonesian National Team To Succeed In The 2026 World Cup Qualification

JAKARTA - FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, prays for the success of the Indonesian national team which will compete in the Fourth Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

Infantino said the two meetings on the agenda were an important match. The Indonesian national team will face hosts, Saudi Arabia, on October 8, 2025, and Iraq on October 11, 2025.

"Yes, it will be a tough match, but until some time ago no party might predict Indonesia will undergo two crucial matches to qualify for the World Cup (2026)," said Gianni Infantino in a statement after meeting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in New York, United States, quoted on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

In the Fourth Round of the 2026 Asian Zone World Cup Qualifiers, only the group winners will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup. Meanwhile, the runners-up team will meet other runners-ups to win tickets to the intercontinental playoffs.

For this important agenda, Infantino then prayed for the Indonesian national team to achieve the best results. The Swiss-Italy man said playing in the World Cup was the dream of all football players.

"Playing in the World Cup is a highlight for every player, for every supporter. So, I wish Indonesia all the best."

"Good luck to all those who participate and we must unite football," said Infantino.

Infantino also expressed respect for President Prabowo after holding a meeting in New York.

"I am honored and very happy to meet the President of Indonesia. He is a great friend of football, a leader who holds fast to his words."

"What he has and is doing for football, in a great football country like Indonesia, is really unique."

"He, the government, together with Erick Thohir of course, they have done extraordinary things for Indonesian football, for men's, women's, seniors, young age. However, the important thing is the spirit for football," said Infantino.
