PSM Vs Persija: Gustavo Almeida Has Opportunity To Appear

Gustavo Almeida has the opportunity to appear when Persija travels to PSM Makassar headquarters (Instagram/@gustavo_70).

JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta coach, Mauricio Souza, opened the opportunity to play attacking Gustavo Almeida in the sixth week of the 2025/2026 Super League against PSM Makassar at Gelora BJ Habibie Stadium, Parepare, South Sulawesi, Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Almeida, who recorded 18 goals for Persija in the 2024/2025 season, has not played for the Kemayoran Tigers at all this season.

The Brazilian striker was injured in an ankle, but he is now being taken and joined by the squad to visit PSM headquarters.

"About Gustavo, he's already on the list to play. He's okay, there's no more problem with his injury. He's ready to play if I need him," Mauricio Souza told a news conference before the match on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Although Gustavo Almeida was absent, Persija's productivity did not seem to have any significant problems. Of the five matches that have been played, Persija became the most productive team in the Super League with a record of scoring 12 goals and only conceded three goals.

On the other hand, Mauricio Souza did not bring along midfielder Gustavo Franca for a visit to Makassar.

In last season's meeting, Persija won one draw and lost once against PSM Makassar.

Persija's visit to PSM headquarters was the opening of the four consecutive away matches that the team from Jakarta will play.

After PSM, Persija will visit Borneo FC headquarters on September 28, 2025, Persebaya Surabaya (October 18, 2025), and Madura United (October 24, 2025).

On the original schedule, Persija will host Bhayangkara FC on October 4, 2025. However, the competition operator, I-League, decided to shift all the eighth week of the Super League match to the end of December 2025 to adjust the agenda of the Indonesian national team which will fight in the Fourth Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian Zone.
