Perbasi Call 24 Players For 2025 SEA Games Preparation

JAKARTA The Central Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (DPP Perbasi) summoned 24 players to undergo a training camp to prepare for the 2025 SEA Games.

The names summoned have started preparations on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at GOR Soemantri Brodjonegoro, Kuningan, South Jakarta. They train under the direction of coach David Singleton.

David said that it would create a competitive atmosphere during the training camp to see the players who were more prominent and ready to be brought to the biennial event.

"If we want to do something at the SEA Games then we have to be a team that is hungry for victory and competitive. Every day there must be a competition to find out who is the best player," said David in a statement received.

In the summons list, there is not a single naturalized player. There is only the name Dame Diagne, a Senegal-born player who already had an Indonesian passport before she was 16 years old.

Naturalized players, such as Marques Bolden, Total Prospoer, and Anthony Beane were all crossed out. In addition, Indonesian-blooded basketball player Brandon Jawato is also not included in the fire.

The deletion follows the host regulation which prohibits naturalized players in basketball (sports). They only allow players who have passports before the age of 16 like Diagne who can play.

Indonesia previously won the gold medal at the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games. This achievement became history because it won the first gold medal from basketball 5 x 5 at the largest multi-branch sporting event in Southeast Asia.

The 2025 Thailand SEA Games are scheduled to take place on 9-20 December 2025. A total of 50 sports and 574 numbers will be contested in three major cities, namely Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.
