JAKARTA Indonesia fielded 10 wheelchair fencing athletes to face the World Championship titled Para Fencing World Cup 2025.

The prestigious tournament will take place at GOR Indoor Manahan, Solo, Central Java. The World Championships will start on Monday, September 15, 2025.

The ten Indonesian athletes who will appear are Alika Shashabilah, Sri Lestari, Dwi Lestari, Angga Budi Prasetyo, Akhmad Saidah, Didit Diantoro, Taufiq Rahman, Ryo Affandi, Tutik Yumiati, and Aditya Hidayat.

In the squad, only Sri Lestari and Akhmad Saidah had experienced the international stage. They have previously been a mainstay at the 2018 Asian Para Games.

The other athletes so far have only limited to feeling the tight competition in the XVII 2024 National Paralympic Week (Peparnas).

"We are very happy with the World Championships in Solo because it can be a stage for athletes to get flying hours," said Firman Raflesio as Indonesia's wheelchair fencing coach.

The participants who come to Solo will be the world's top athletes who previously fought at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, France.

Firman said that this is an opportunity for Indonesian athletes to gain knowledge in preparation for welcoming the 2025 ASEAN Para Games in Thailand later this year.

"We hope to get points in this championship, thankfully we can win medals because this is an international event, many Paralympic athletes are participating," he said.

This World Championship is a new choice in the career of athlete Taufiq Rahman after previously pursuing the throwing category athletic sport.

Taufiq won two gold medals in Peparnas XVII 2024 which made him even more confident in choosing a wheelchair budget and preparing carefully for the 2025 Fencing World Cup.

"I am very happy to be joining the training camp and now I am getting more enthusiastic because this championship will be my first moment competing at the international level," said Taufiq.

Taufiq is undergoing smooth preparations for this World Championship. Before being called into the Indonesian team's training camp, he had been intensely practicing since February 2025 with the Central Java wheelchair fencing team.

"I want to find experience in this championship and try to go as far as possible because I have never faced world athletes," he said.
