Director Of Responsibility Engineering For The Sustainability Of Mees Hilgers At FC Twenty

Mees Hilgers still has the opportunity to win FC Twenty (VOI/Karisa Aurelia Tukan).

JAKARTA - Mees Hilgers is currently still in FC Twente uniform, following his failure to move to Ligue1, Stade Brest. The continuation of the transfer plan is still a question mark.

Previously, Mees was just one step away from joining Stade Brest last week. However, the lack of time to do medical tests prevented the move of the Indonesian-blooded player from happening.

In the midst of that situation, Mees still has a desire to move from his current club. Regarding that, FC Twenty's Technical Director, Jan Streuer, admitted that his party had made efforts throughout the summer to sell the defender whose contract at Enschede would indeed expire at the end of this season.

"There is no solution yet. However, there are still some activities around Mees. Some things are still possible in some countries."

"We'll see about the progress in the coming weeks. If no other developments happen, then we'll have an additional center-back. Of course that can be overcome," Jan Streuer was quoted as saying by Voetbal International, Thursday, September 11, 2025.

FC Twenty has loaned centre-back Alec van Hoorenbeeck to Heracles Almelo. Now Twente's centre-back material leaves Robin Propper, Max Bruns, Stev Lemkin, and Ruud Nijstad, who were promoted from a young academy.

"The current situation, three plus one young player. It's a bit risky. With Mees, the number is four plus one young player. It's not bad," Streuer said.

Streuer said it would urge a contract extension to prevent Mees Hilgers from leaving on a free transfer.

"We have to talk about it with him. However, let's wait and see in the coming weeks," said Streuer.
