Open 2026 World Cup Qualification, France Wins 2-0 Against Ukraine

JAKARTA - The French national team opened the European zone 2026 World Cup Qualifiers with a 2-0 win over Ukraine in their first match in Group D, Miejski Stadium, WroClaw, Poland, Saturday morning WIB.

Quoting Antara, France triumphed in the match thanks to goals from Michael Olise and Kylian Mbappe.

France is now in second place in the 2026 World Cup Qualification Group D standings with three points from one match, while Ukraine ranks third without points.

Statistically, France is ahead of Ukraine with 52 percent possession and 16 kicks, six of which are on target.

France took the initiative to attack first and was able to score a goal when the game went 10 minutes through Michael Olise's goal after receiving a Bradley Barcola pass so the score changed to 1-0.

Olise again had a chance to double France's lead, but this time efforts could still be stopped by Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin in the 18th minute.

Then in the 23rd minute, it was Kylian Mbappe's turn to create chances for France, but the Real Madrid player's shot still bounced narrowly over the crossbar.

Entering the second half, France pressed through a kick from Ousmane Dembele which Trubin parried in the 58th minute.

France has a golden opportunity to double the lead with a shot released by Barcola that is still soaring slightly over Ukraine's crossbar.

France's efforts to double the lead finally paid off in the 82nd minute through a goal scored by Kylian Mbappe after receiving a pass from Aurelien Tchouameni so that the score changed to 2-0.

In the remaining time, France continued to strive to increase the advantage by pressing Ukraine's defense, but until the match after the 2-0 score remained.
