JAKARTA The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) summoned a number of young players to take part in the preparation selection to welcome the 2025 BWF Junior World Championships (World Junior Championships 2025).

The selection will take place on September 7-9, 2025 at the PBSI National Training Center, Cipayung, East Jakarta. A total of 64 badminton players were summoned to take part in this selection.

"From this process, one men's singles will be selected, three women's singles, three men's doubles, two women's doubles, and three mixed doubles," PBSI wrote in an official statement.

The names who pass the selection will join Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah, Richie Duta Richardo, Fardhan Rainanda Joe, Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan, Rinjani Kwinnara Nastine, Riska Anggraini, and Ikhsan Lintang Pramudya.

The 2025 BWF Junior World Championship is scheduled to take place in Guwahati, India, on October 6, 2025. Indonesia comes with the status of defending champion in the mixed team sector.

In the previous edition of 2024, the Indonesian junior badminton team managed to bring home the Suhandinata Cup after defeating the host China in the final round.

In this year's edition, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) officially implemented a new format score for the Suhandinata Cup team number with an relay system of 3 x 45 points, replacing the 110 points format used in the 2024 edition.

This new format regulates one game consisting of three sets. So, the team that won two automatically came out as winners.

Each set includes five games consisting of men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Per game chases nine points without settings so that the team that reaches 45 points first will be the winner.

The new system also stipulates three-minute interval rules betweensets, two-minute intergim, and 60-second points 5, 14, 23, 32, and 41.

In addition, each team is at least six players (three men and three daughters) and a maximum of 16 players (eight men and eight women). Indonesia as the defending champion will start its struggle in Group C with Turkey, Romania, and the Netherlands.
