JAKARTA - Jose Mourinho has been sacked as head coach Fenerbahce. The 62-year-old coach's departure came two days after the Turkish club failed to qualify for the Champions League group stage following Benfica's defeat in the playoffs.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager was appointed as Fenerbahce Manager ahead of the 2024/2025 season.
Fenerbahce brought him to finish second in the Super Lig (Turkey Main League) season 2024/2025, 11 points adrift of their rival, Galatasaray.
"We have separated from Jose Mourinho. We are grateful for his efforts for our team and wish him success in his future career," the club said in a statement.
This news comes a day after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who replaced Mourinho as Manchester United manager in 2018, was sacked by rival Fenerbahce in Super Lig, Besiktas.

Mourinho joined Fenerbahce less than six months after being sacked by Serie A club AS Roma, having previously coached Porto, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid.
