Alexander Zwiers' Background, Has Lived In Karawaci And Has An Indonesian Wife

Alexander Zwiers was introduced as PSSI Technical Director (doc. PSSI).

PSSI officially appointed Alexander Zwiers as Technical Director (Dirtek) on Monday, August 25, 2025. Will work in Indonesia, Zwiers turns out to have a background that is closely related to the country.

Zwiers' wife is an Indonesian. In addition, this Dutch-blooded man also said that he had lived in Karawaci, Tangerang, Banten. This is what makes it not too difficult for Zwiers to adapt to this new environment.

"I want to thank Indonesia for the warm welcome. I also thank Erick Thohir, Patrick (Kluivert), (Jordi) Cruyff, for trusting me to be part of this project."

"I feel like I have a connection with Indonesia. My wife is Indonesian and has been married for 25 years. My wife and child have been in Indonesia since June 2025."

"I've lived four years in Indonesia, in Karawaci. So, I'm happy to be able to feel Indonesian air again," Zwiers said at his introduction at the Mulia Hotel, Jakarta, Monday, August 25, 2025.

After being officially appointed as PSSI Director of Technology, Zwiers has high hopes. He wants all parties to be involved in building Indonesian football towards a better direction in the future.

"We build a nation together, everyone is involved, everyone must be in harmony, everyone needs to listen. Where are our positions, what are our strengths, what should be built, where is the gap."

"So everyone has to get involved, from the grassroots coach to the professional coach, everyone has to be together, together to build a long-term design," he said.

Zwiers is a person full of experience. This man from the Netherlands started his career as a coach at SC Cambuur and Groningen.

He then continued his work behind the scenes, such as the coach of the youth team at the Qatar Football Association, Al Ahli Jeddah, and Al Gharaafa.

Zweirs has also collaborated with football legend Johan Cruyff at Chivas Guadalajara (Mexico). The figure of Zwiers has extensive experience as a coach and Technical Director in various countries.

He has even had a career in coaching in the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Kazakhstan, China, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan.
