JAKARTA Mario Suryo Aji is certain to miss the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Moto2 race which will take place this weekend.

Honda Team Asia Team Manager, Hiroshi Aoyama, said in a release on Thursday, August 14, 2025, that Mario still needed time to recover after undergoing shoulder dislocation surgery.

"The recovery is showing positive progress, but it still takes more time. He will miss the next two races," he said.

Mario Aji's return to the top of the track has made his position in the Idemitsu Honda Team Asia team replaced by Nakarin Atiratphuvapat.

The Thai racer has previously appeared as a substitute in Aragon, Mugello, and Assen. He is also still a substitute in the following two races after Austria.

Mario Aji suffered from a shoulder dislocation five times in less than a year. He was diagnosed with a bankart lesion, an injury condition that affected the soft tissue on the shoulder.

The 21-year-old racer made a comeback at Silverstone, England, before deciding to step down due to another shoulder dislocation injury.

Mario underwent surgery to deal with the matter on May 30, 2025. The surgery took place at Clinica Mi Tres Torres, Barcelona, Spain, and was handled by doctor Jordi Puigdellivol.

Mario Aji is currently ranked 24th in the Moto2 2025 standings with eight points. His best result was finishing ninth in the Circuit of The Americas (COTA), Texas, United States.
