Equestrian Sports Targeted To Qualify For The Olympics

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, encourages sports (sports) to continue to excel and be able to appear in events as big as the Olympics.

This was conveyed by Dito when attending the equestrian championship for the President's Cup titled The President Cup Aragon Merdeka Master 2025 in Bekasi, West Java, on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

"I think that we must be able to bring this horse to the Olympics. Therefore, we are trying to increase the industry first for now," said Dito in an official statement received.

At this time, Indonesia has the status of master of equestrian sports at the Southeast Asian level. It's just that at a much larger level, Indonesia cannot talk much so it must continue to be encouraged.

Dito emphasized that his party together with the All-Indonesian Equestrian Sports Association (Pordasi) will create a roadmap so that the desire to get to the Olympics will soon be realized.

"Of course with collaboration and cooperation with various government and private parties," he said.

This is the first time the President's Cup equestrian championship has been held. However, his enthusiasm was very high, namely 1,751 entry and 390 horses.

This championship is also Indonesia's preparation to participate in various multi-branch sporting events. Two of them are the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand and the Asian Youth Games in Manama, Bahrain, on October 22-31, 2025.

"So, indeed, this equestrian sport has always been competed in multi-branch. We want to always participate and play an important role in this sport," said Dito.

The President's Cup of the Republic of Indonesia will take place in two match numbers, namely the 120 cm (two rounds) jumping and element open (two rounds) dressing.

Aragon Merdeka Master 2025 was held to commemorate Indonesia's independence. This is open to athletes from various age categories, ranging from U-14 to U-21, as well as open categories (open).

All matches are held by referring to international regulations set by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI), including the application of the horse welfare code of ethics.
