Menpora Encourages Swimming For The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics Medal

JAKARTA - The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, encouraged swimming to be able to chase medals at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

This was conveyed by Dito while attending the training event of the Indonesian Aquatic Management (PB AI) for the 2025-2029 term of service in Jakarta on Monday, August 4, 2025. PB AI was again led by Anindya Bakrie for the third period.

"For the third period (Mr. Anindya Bakrie), how do we make a legacy, the fastest is the 2028 Olympics which will take place in Los Angeles," said Dito.

Dito emphasized that the Government is always present and fully supports swimming to make history. Support is good in the form of infrastructure, procurement of human resources, and competition.

One of the infrastructures that can support the preparation of swimming sports is the Cibubur Youth Elite Center. Dito said that there will be a training center facility not far from there, which also has a swimming pool facility.

In addition, the Government also has a master's scholarship program for sports and athletes and is proposing a bachelor's degree scholarship for high school students through the sports athlete line.

"Then, the government together with the federation also want to hold a championship, both at the national level and PON which can later be structured to prepare for a multi-branch sporting event," said Dito.

Meanwhile, Anindya Bakrie, who officially returned to her position as General Chair of the Indonesian Acutetics Executive Board (PB AI), emphasized her determination to bring Indonesian aquatic sports to achieve higher achievements on the international stage.

"The target of course is that the SEA Games, Asian Games, and the Olympics must be better. The number of nurserys must also be greater and more competitive," said Anindya.

Swimming is one of the medal barns in international multi-branch sporting events. Indonesia regularly sends swimming athletes to the Olympics, but has never won medals.

Swimming at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will add new numbers such as 50 meters of cheststroke, 50 meters of butterfly, and 50 meters of other style.
