McLaren Scores 200th Victory In F1, Zak Brown: Almost Perfect!

JAKARTA The McLaren team recorded an important milestone in Formula 1 after winning their 200th victory at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix. Lando Norris finished first in front of his Oscar Piastri team-mate, in their fourth straight one-two finish this season. McLaren boss Zak Brown called this achievement a "perfect" victory.

The race at the Hungaroring Circuit on Sunday 3 August became the full dominance of McLaren. This victory is the fifth for Norris this season and inaugurates McLaren's position as the main competitor in the race for the title of constructors and racers.

"You'll never be perfect in racing, but it's a race that's as close as possible to the perfect word," said Zak Brown, quoted by VOI from Sky Sports. The riders performed amazingly, the pit stops went smoothly, a great strategy. I'm very proud of this racing team.

Norris and Piastri finished the race with a difference of only 0.698 seconds. Piastri tried to overtake Norris on the last lap, but was locked when braking and almost touched Norris' car. However, there was no significant incident, and McLaren still locked down the top two positions.

McLaren's head, Andrea Stella, acknowledged the tension in this internal duel, but praised the two riders for maintaining fair play.

"Oscar had a lock-up, but Lando gave space because he knew Oscar was already at the limit of braking capacity," said Stella. We are proud of how Lando and Oscar fight each other. This reflects McLaren's values, and also the values of Formula 1.

Norris, who won from third place on the grid, had dropped to fifth on the first lap using the one- pit stop strategy, compared to the two pit stops Piastri took. He admits that there are still many aspects that need to be improved in him.

"Even though the results look great, I haven't given myself the best chance at the start," said Norris. I make my life more difficult than it should be. So there are still things I need to fix.

This victory is also an important difference in the championship standings. Piastri, who previously had the lead, is now only nine points adrift of Norris. The competition between the two is expected to last strictly until the end of the season.

"This fight will be fierce and long until the end of the season," said Norris. "It takes tremendous concentration in every session, every race. I have to be more consistent in order to continue to be on the winning path."

On the statistic side, McLaren is now the second team in Formula 1 history to score 200 wins, following Ferrari who took the lead with 248 wins. Mercedes is third with 130 wins.

This milestone is also a contrast to Ferrari, which despite winning pole position through Charles Leclerc in Hungary, has yet to win a single win this season. Leclerc only finished fourth after experiencing a drastic decline in performance after the second pit stop.

For McLaren and his fans, the 2025 season could be a great moment of revival after several years of struggling on the central board. With two competitive young riders, a mature strategy, and positive momentum, the Woking-based team is rebuilding their winning dynasty and this 200nd milestone may only be the beginning of McLaren's great revival.
