JAKARTA Ruben Amoram showed his long-term ambition as Manchester United coach by expressing his desire to stay at Old Trafford for the next two decades. In his interview with international media ahead of his first full season in the Premier League, the Portuguese coach expressed his belief that he could be the central figure who brought MU back to glory.

I want to survive, I want to last 20 years. That's my goal, and I really believe it will be achieved. Something will definitely happen. Sometimes I will be lucky," said Amorim as quoted by ESPN, Sunday, August 3.

Amoriam arrived at Manchester United in November 2024 in a challenging situation. At that time, the Red Devils were slumped in 13th place in the Premier League standings. Under his leadership, the club finally closed the season in 15th place away from expectations. In fact, a painful failure occurred when United lost in the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur, which added to the pressure on him.

However, the 2025 pre-season shows a glimmer of hope. Amorim said his team is now much more solid and transformed significantly compared to last season.

This is a really different team from last season. The players are starting to understand my philosophy, and the team spirit is also very different," he said in an optimistic tone.

Sky Sports also reports that Amorism, which is under contract until 2027 with the option of a one-year extension, is well aware that the outcome of the match remains the main determinant of its fate at the club of Manchester United.

"I know the results will determine everything," he said, honestly. However, he remains confident in the long-term projects he is building.

To strengthen the squad, Amorism has brought in two new players who have proven their quality in the Premier League: Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The two attackers were brought in for a total cost of 128.5 million pounds sterling or around Rp. 2.79 trillion.

"I'm happy with the players we brought in. They've proven themselves in the Premier League, so I'm not worried about the physical aspect. They're ready to fight right away," said Amorim.

The presence of Mbeumo and Cunha is expected to increase the strength of the front line of Manchester United, which last season appeared blunt. The combination of the two is believed to bring variation and aggressiveness in attacks.
