China Open 2025: Gregoria Pockets Quarter-Final Tickets

JAKARTA Gregoria Mariska Tunjung managed to reach the second round at the 2025 China Open to maintain the hope of Indonesian women's singles.

The eighth seed passed the challenge against Lin Hsiang Ti from China Taipei in the two straight games 21-13 and 21-14 on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

"Obviously, I'm very grateful to be back in the quarter-finals considering that some time ago I just returned to training was very heavy," said Gregoria after the match.

Gregoria, who has only appeared again at the Japan Open 2025 last week since April 2025 due to health problems, played 33 minutes to reach its fourth quarter-finals this season.

On the previous three occasions, only once did he make it through that stage and returned home in the semifinals. He did this at the 2025 India Open which took place in January 2025.

"I feel (still) not satisfied with this (los to the quarter-finals). Tomorrow I want to be maximized. I still have to increase my focus on the final points," said Gregoria.

Gregoria is the only Indonesian women's singles left in the tournament. She actually went down with Putri Kusuma Wardani in this event, but the badminton player who was born in Tangerang had already returned home in the first round.

Furthermore, Gregoria will meet the winner of fourth seed Han Yue against fellow Chinese representative, Han Qian Xi.

Apart from Gregoria, the ticket for the quarter-finals was also obtained by the Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu and Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
