His appearance at the Energa Stadium, Gdansk, Poland, on May 26, will be MU's first final since being handled by former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
His 6-2 aggregate advantage did not stop Solskjaer from reducing his full strength from the start, but goalkeeper David de Gea was forced to make a brilliant save when the game was not yet four minutes old to prevent Gianluca Mancini from welcoming Lorenzo Pellegrini's free-kick.

De Gea again showed a brilliant reaction in order to dispel Rick Karsdorp's cross that had headed for Edin Dzeko.
In the 20th minute, MU finally created their chance through Fred's sweet pass which Edinson Cavani tried to finish with a crooked shot past goalkeeper Antonio Mirante who came out of his nest, unfortunately, the ball still hit the crossbar.
Eight minutes later, Mirante makes a fine save on Cavani's close-range which tries to convert Bruno Fernandes' through ball.
In the 35th minute, De Gea pulled off another captivating action to knock out Pellegrini's hard-range shot to snatch a wild ball from Dzeko's shot.
Four minutes later, it was Manchester United who opened the scoring in this match through a counter-attack which was ended by Cavani's hard shot to greet Fred's feed and the score 1-0 for the visitors to last until halftime.
Pride stakes saw Roma look to be more aggressive in the second half and in the 57th minute their hard work paid off when Dzeko stood in the right position to head home Pedro Rodriguez's volley.
Three minutes later, Roma turned to lead 2-1 over United after Pellegrini grabbed the ball from Fred's control and then sent it to Bryan Cristante who fired a neat shot to beat De Gea.
De Gea was then forced to make three brilliant saves in a row to block shots from Dzeko, Pedro, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Cavani scored his second in the 68th minute with a powerful header following Fernandes' accurate cross to make it 2-2.
The hosts kept trying to find another goal and in the 83rd minute, Nicola Zalewski's volley - who had only been on for seven minutes to replace Pedro - hit Alex Telles' leg, outwitting De Gea and putting Roma back 3-2 ahead.
A narrow defeat in Rome...
But we're Gdansk-bound, boys! 💪
