Mochizuki's Satoru Removed, Joko Susilo Becomes Caretaker For The Indonesian Women's National Team Coach

JAKARTA - Joko Susilo has been officially appointed as caretaker or interim coach of the Indonesian Women's National Team. His presence was to replace the position of Satoru Mochizuki who was removed from his status as a coach.

The decision to remove Mochizuki as coach of the Indonesian Women's National Team was taken by PSSI after the Japanese coach failed to bring Garuda Pertiwi to qualify for the 2026 Women's Asian Cup.

Mochizuki's new status, who is no longer a coach and replaced by Joko Susilo, was conveyed by Member of the Executive Committee (Exco), Vivin Cahyani.

"Because we have not found the head coach (Indonesian Women's National Team), we have appointed coach Joko Susilo to become interim coach to fill this position."

"Of course we saw that in the 2025 Women's AFF Cup the competition was quite tight. However, we focused the players on appearing in the 2026 Asian Cup because it was the 2027 World Cup Qualifiers."

"We decided there not to shrink the AFF, but with many talents at a young age we finally decided to focus on the Asian Cup," Vivin Cahyani said in a statement in Jakarta quoted Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Joko Susilo was chosen to replace Mochizuki not without reason. Previously, he was an experienced coach in the Indonesian League. The man who was born in Pasuruan had handled Persikabo, Persis Solo, PSMS Medan, and Arema.

Vivin also continued, even though he was removed from his position as coach, Mochizuki would still help PSSI to take care of behind-the-scenes women's football.

"Coach Mochi is now focused on development, it has also been decided by Ketum (PSSI) through coordination with Exco that we see a higher level, yes, for Mochi's coach."

"We can see from his experience, his credibility, his networking with JFA, with the women's league in Japan," said Vivin.
