PT LIB Allows Contract Clubs 11 Foreign Players In Super League 2025/2056, Only 8 Can Play

Each League 1 club is allowed to recruit 11 foreign players for the 2025/2026 season (doc. PT LIB).

JAKARTA - PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) has just completed the agenda of the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) in Jakarta on Monday, July 7, 2025. At the same time, competition operators also report new regulations related to players.

Through the results of the meeting, PT LIB stated that all League 1 clubs from the 2025/2026 season were allowed to sign 11 foreign players. However, when the match took place, only eight foreign players could be fielded, as well as on the line-up list (DSP).

Along with that regulation, if a club has fielded eight foreign players as starters then it cannot include foreign players on the reserve cast list.

"The front season of foreign players is eight who play, then in DSP there are still eight. However, the club can register to 11," said PT LIB President Director Ferry Paulus in a press conference after the GMS.

However, the rules for signing 11 foreign players were released to the club, whether to use them all or not. PT LIB also does not provide a limit on where foreign players are signed from, either from Asia or other continents.

In addition, there are also regulations that state that League 1 clubs for the 2025/2026 season must sign five local U-23 players aka born in 2003. Every match, one U-23 player must be played by the club for at least 45 minutes.

Another big decision at the PT LIB GMS in 2025 is a name change. Next season's League 1 will be officially called the Super League. While Liga 2 changed its name to the Championship Procurement.
