Ahead Of Chelsea Vs Madrid, Zidane: We Can Go This Far Thanks To The Hard Work Of The Team

JAKARTA - Zinedine Zidane stated that he did not believe in the notion of miracles in football.

This was conveyed in a press conference reported by Antara from Real Madrid's official website on Wednesday morning WIB, a day before his team played the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, London.

Talk about a miracle seems to be inseparable from the fact that Real Madrid are now in the semifinals of the Champions League, although they had struggled to start their progress in the competition this season.

In the first two matches, Los Blancos lost against Shakhtar Donetsk and were matched by Borussia Moenchengladbach, two teams that incidentally did not count in Group B.

However, Zidane's team ended up at the top of Group B before moving smoothly past Atalanta and Liverpool towards the semifinals.

"This is not a miracle. We have come this far thanks to the hard work of the team and believe in what we are working on," said Zidane.

"Everything is about it. There is no magic in football," he added.

Zidane has the opportunity to lead Real Madrid to the Champions League final for the fifth time in eight years, if tomorrow will be able to beat Chelsea, who drew 1-1 against Madrid in the first leg.

A 2-2 score will also give Real Madrid a final ticket, armed with away goals and Zidane believes his team is ready to give their best to reach the target of locking in a place in Istanbul.

"We know what kind of match we are going to have and are happy to be here. We know what has brought us this far and will do everything we can to reach the final," he said.

"We will try to play our own game in 90 minutes or more if you have to. Most importantly we are ready for the semi-finals of the Champions League, games you don't play every day.

"All I can say now is that the players are ready to put on a good performance tomorrow," concluded Zidane.
