JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Team is enthusiastic about undergoing its inaugural training at the Madya Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday, May 1 evening, in preparation for three qualifying matches for the 2022 Group G World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Indonesia is scheduled to fight Thailand on June 3, 2021, then Vietnam on June 7, 2021, and finally the UAE on June 11, 2021 at the UAE as the location for the continued centralization of World Cup qualifiers for Group G determined by the AFC.

Quoted by Antara from the official website of PSSI, Sunday, the training started at 20.30 WIB and was led temporarily by Assistant Coach Nova Arianto.

"The condition of the players is quite good and prime. Starting tomorrow and next week we will increase the intensity of training," said Nova.

Nova said the training material was recovery, especially since most of the players had just participated in the 2021 Menpora Cup tournament.

"Coach Shin Tae-yong's program is the first four days, namely physical improvement, after that tactical and strategic. The hope is that when entering tactical and strategic training material, players are ready to follow," Nova added.

National Team Coach Shin Tae-yong just landed in Jakarta on Sunday.

Meanwhile, PSSI Chairman Mochamad Iriawan said that the players who took part in the TC were coach Shin Tae-yong's choice.

"The Indonesian national team players who participate in the TC this time must show their best performance. In addition to undergoing the 2022 World Cup Qualification match, the Garuda squad will also conduct two international trials against Afghanistan (25 May) and Oman (29 May)," he said.

Iwan Bule, his nickname, hopes the players will continue to work hard for maximum results in the Group G World Cup Qualification match.

"We hope that with good preparation, the Indonesian national team can achieve maximum results in three matches against Thailand, Vietnam and the UAE. PSSI continues to support coach Shin Tae-yong's program for the achievement of the Indonesian national team's achievements," he said.

The Indonesian national team is currently in fifth position in the Group G standings. The maximum points the Indonesian national team can achieve is nine points with a record of winning all the remaining matches.

Meanwhile, those who qualify for the next round are only group winners and runners-up, currently Vietnam (11 points) and Malaysia (9 points).
