JAKARTA British boxer Joe Joyce faces serious questions about his future in boxing following his latest defeat against Filip Hrgovic.

The fight between the two names took place at the Co-op Live Arena, Manchester, England, on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Hrgovic won the fight with an absolute number decision in 10 rounds.

After the match, Joyce's promoter, Frank Warren, opened up about a possible retirement for her 39-year-old client.

"He needs to think about what he should do, but there's no need to rush," Warren was quoted as saying by Boxing Scene.

This is Joyce's fourth loss in her last five or second games in a row after she lost to Derek Chisora in July 2024.

The silver medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics previously won his first 15 professional fights, but was stopped twice by Chinese champion Zhilei Zhang in 2023.

Joyce is supposed to face compatriot Dillian Whyte in this latest duel. However, Whyte withdrew from the fight due to a hand injury.

Warren said they would discuss what steps Joyce will take in the future.

"It was a very tight fight. Joe has been a good servant to British boxing and he has never fought boring," he said.

This victory is Hrgovic's turning point after he suffered his first career defeat against Daniel Dubois in June 2024.

This big win allowed Hrgovic to return to competition in the heavyweights. This is opposite to Joyce's fate which is likely to end.
