Swiss Open 2025: Febriana/Amallia Lose In Semifinals

JAKARTA - The women's doubles pair Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi lifted the suitcase from the semifinals of the Swiss Open 2025.

The third seed was eliminated from the tournament after losing two straight games 11-21 and 12-21 against the Chinese pair, Jia Yifan/Zhang Shu Xian, in St. Jakobshalle Arena on Saturday, March 22, 2025, WIB night.

"Today our return of the ball when it persists is inaccurate in the direction, in the end it can easily get hit by the block or get intercepted from the opponent," said Amalia after the match.

The results in Switzerland are Febriana/Amallia's best journey both on European tours and in this year's World Tour BWF calendar, which includes five tournaments.

Earlier at All England last week, the couple only arrived in the second half after losing to Yuki Fukushima/Mayu Matsumoto from Japan.

As for the other three tournaments, they once reached the quarter-finals (Indonesia Masters) and returned home twice in the first round (Malaysia Open and Thailand Masters).

"In terms of performance on this European tour, there has been an improvement from before, although the results are not what we wanted. Hopefully this will be a positive stepping stone for our journey forward," said Amalia.

The Swiss Open is the last World Tour tournament this month. Furthermore, Febriana/Amallia can prepare to appear at Taipei Open, Thailand Open, Malaysia Masters, and the Singapore Open, all of which will take place in May.

Apart from Febriana/Amallia, Indonesia also has Putri Kusuma Wardani and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin in the semifinals of the Swiss Open. The two representatives did not play when this news was written.
