Swiss Open 2025: Putri KW Qualifies For Quarter Finals

Putri Kusuma Wardani secured tickets for the quarter-finals of the Swiss Open 2025 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Indonesian women's singles badminton player, Putri Kusuma Wardani or who is familiarly known as Putri KW, managed to secure a ticket to the quarter-finals of the Swiss Open 2025.

He repatriated India's representative, Anupadhyaya, with a win of two straight games 21-17 and 21-19 at St. Jakobshalle Arena, Basel, Switzerland, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, WIB night.

Putri admitted after the match that Anupama was able to control the field well even though she lost. In addition, he also managed to limit the balls that made it difficult for the Indonesian representatives.

"I died a lot myself because I forced the ball to come down as quickly as possible. In addition, my observations are often wrong," he said in a statement received from PBSI Public Relations.

Putri, who is the fourth seed, is the first Indonesian representative to reach the quarter-finals of the BWF Super 300 level tournament.

He will then face Han Qian Xi. The Chinese women's singles badminton player reached the quarter-finals by defeating India's representative, Isharani Barukah.

This will be their third clash after they beat each other in the previous two competitive meetings. Han first won at the 2018 Malaysia International Junior Open and replied by Putri at the 2024 Korea Masters.

"However, I have to be vigilant because he also just last week beat my colleague, Ester, at the Ruichang China Masters," said Putri.

In another match, the ticket to the quarter-finals failed to be obtained by the men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana. They lifted the suitcase after losing to Lee Fang-Chih/Lee Fang-Jen (China Taipei) with a score of 19-21 and 21-23.
