Usyk Can Fight Dubois Before The WBO Mandatory Match

JAKARTA Oleksandr Usyk is allowed to fight Daniel Dubois first for the undisputed world title before boarding the ring for the mandatory WBO fight against Joseph Parker.

WBO President, Gustavo Olivieri, said that if a petition entered his side and asked for the mandatory WBO fight to be postponed, the Championship Committee would make a decision.

"In accordance with the wisdom given to the Committee (Achievements) by our regulations, the request can be granted," said Gustavo as quoted by Sky Sport.

Usyk managed to bring together the four main heavyweight world titles when he won his first fight against Tyson Fury in May 2024 at Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Ukrainian boxer then successfully defended the WBO, WBC, and WBA titles in the rematch against Fury in December 2024 in the same place.

The rematch made Usyk unable to defend the IBF championship belt, which was achieved and maintained by Dubois from England with a knock-out (KO) victory over Anthony Joshua.

Dubois has previously lost against Usyk in 2023. For this reason, the British fighter has a great opportunity to take revenge if a heavyweight unification occurs.

Dubois coach, Don Charles, said that currently his fighters are very ready to get into the ring against Usyk and have the opportunity to become world champions is undeniable.

"When he holds one of the titles, he has an IBF heavyweight belt, so you have to be able to face all the newcomers and that's where we are," he said.

According to reports, Wembley Stadium will be considered to be the venue for the duel. However, the option of clashing in the Middle East is also very open.
