Swiss Open 2025: Patience/Reza Participate In Qualifying For Round Of 16

Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani stepped into the round of 16 of the Swiss Open 2025 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani helped secure tickets to the second round of the Swiss Open 2025, which made Indonesia's men's doubles still safe in this tournament.

The pair qualified thanks to an easy win over Declan Bennett/Richard Kong from Ireland with final scores 21-6 and 21-11 on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, WIB night.

"It must be admitted that the opponent is still not too strong. So, in this first half we are all adapting to the conditions of the field and the shuttlecock," said Sabar in an official statement received from PBSI Public Relations.

Indonesia has deployed a total of three men's doubles in this Super 300 BWF level tournament. Sabar/Reza are the last representatives of the event who secure tickets to the second round of the tournament.

They followed in the footsteps of the pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin and runners-up of All England 2025, Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana.

Patience/Reza avoided clashes with Leo/Bagas in the second round of the Swiss Open 2025 due to a change in the draw. However, they will meet in the quarter-finals if they both pass through the round of 16.

Opportunities for clashes between fellow Indonesian representatives will also occur in the semifinals if Fikri/Daniel can reach that round and one of Leo/Bagas or Sabar/Reza can travel to that stage.

"At least we didn't meet in the early rounds. Hopefully, everyone will continue to be given victory," said Sabar.

In the second half, Thursday, March 20, 2025, Sabar/Reza will meet Callum Hemming/Ethan van Leeuwen (England), while Leo/Bagas will face Fang Chih Lee/Fang Jen Lee (China Taipei).

Currently, Indonesia has secured five tickets for the second half. The other two tickets were obtained by Putri Kusuma Wardani and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.
