Manchester United Players Can't Deny Criticism From Club Owners

Ruben Amorim has told Manchester United players that they cannot complain about criticism from one of the club's owners, Sir Jim Radcliffe.

Ratcliffe said in an interview this week that some Manchester United players were paid too expensive and not good enough.

"If you are a top player and play in football, even I - a lot of people say I'm not good enough for the club - my feeling is that you can change that with results. In training, I feel they really want that," Amorim said at a press conference on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, local time.

Ratcliffe also pointed to a number of players whose transfer fees will still be paid this summer.

The list consists of players deemed to have failed at Old Trafford including Jadon Sancho, Antony, Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, and five-time Champions League winner Casemiro.

"You talk about players like Casemiro, for example, who win everything. We know that players like this can play much better."

"So, that's the focus. He's honest in that. The focus is changing his mind and changing everyone's mind," said Amorim.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will play without defenders Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro against Sociedad.

The good news is that Mason Mount has returned to training after three months of absence, but will not play in the Europa League.

Manuel Ugarte, who has missed the last two games, is also available.

"Mason Mount is too fast. Leny is out. Harry Maguire cannot play this match (against Sociedad)."

"However, I hope he can play on Sunday (against Leicester). Manu is in the squad and I don't think any other players will come back," said Amorim.
