Indonesian U-17 TC National Team In Sleman, 2 Diaspora Players Join

The U-17 Indonesian national team has conducted a training camp for the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The U-17 Indonesian national team began to undergo a training camp (TC) in Sleman, Yogyakarta, in preparation for the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup. On this occasion, two diaspora players from Australian clubs, Alamar Wijaya and Jamie Gani, joined.

Almar and Jamie are on the line for 37 players who took part in the second phase of the TC in Yogyakarta for 25 days. The training camp itself has actually been going on since February 1, 2025.

Almar Wijaya is a player who plays for the U-18 Gold Coast club, while Jamie Gani defends Rydalmere Lions U-18. The two 16-year-old players are both strikers.

The presence of both of them is expected by the U-17 Indonesian national team coach, Nova Arianto, to open up opportunities to get the best players in the squad.

Nova also explained that currently he is still monitoring every development of his foster children.

"We are still seeing it (the role of Alamar and Jamie) because I give opportunities for all players who have Indonesian passports whether (playing) in Indonesia or practicing outside, I give them all a chance," Nova said after leading the TC on the Yogyakarta International School (YIS) field, Sleman, quoted on Friday, February 14, 2025.

"Can he help me in the U-17 Asian Cup in the future, we'll see the situation," he said again.

Furthermore, Nova explained that in the training session in the first 10 days of the U-17 Indonesian national team, it was focused on increasing the muscle mass of the players. The rest will hone tactics or strategies.

Nova Arianto's squad is also scheduled to take part in a trial match in mid and late February 2025.

"Players are very good, players are working very hard during TC this time, showing a very extraordinary effort."

"I hope that mentally players can be stronger. Physically, technically, tactics can be even more prepared," said Nova.

This TC agenda is a preparation for the U-17 Indonesian national team to run for the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup which will be held in Saudi Arabia on April 3-20, 2025.

In the age group tournament, the Garuda Asia squad joined in Group C with South Korea U-17, Yemen U-17, and Afghanistan U-17.
