PBSI Will Trial Many Couples During 2025

JAKARTA The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has ensured that the coaching team is free to conduct trials of many couples in this year's calendar.

Head of the PBSI Pelatnas Achievement Development Division, Eng Hian, said that this was done in order to find the right composition to prepare for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics ticket.

"When entering 2026, the pair is expected to be permanent. We will pursue points and rankings to qualify for the 2028 Olympics," reads the PBSI Public Relations release received by the media.

The national badminton parent has made many composition changes in the double sector since last year. Two that bear fruit are the men's doubles and women's doubles.

The most recent is the title earned at Thailand Masters 2025. This achievement was secured through the appearance of the women's doubles pair Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

Eng Hian said that this change followed the formation of coaches who also changed in the new management of General Chair Fadil Imran for the 2024-2028 term of service.

"In the organizational context, I see a long-term journey. We have just changed technical and physical trainers. We are also mixed and matched a double pair," he said.

Indonesian badminton players have recorded four tournaments in this year's calendar. However, Lanny/Fadia's achievements are still the best so far.

While in Thailand, Indonesia also received three runners-up through Komang Ayu Dewi, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

The runner-up achievements were also achieved by two Red-White representatives at the Indonesia Masters 2025, after two tournaments earlier this year, the Malaysia Open and India Open, failed to bear fruit. Both are the men's singles Jonatan Christie and the Fajar Alfian/Muhammas Rian Ardianto doubles.
