A Week Of The Transfer Window Deadline, Chelsea Still Hunting For Players

JAKARTA - Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said his team was always looking for opportunities to recruit new players with seven days remaining in the January 2025 transfer window.

Although Chelsea haven't recruited anyone this month, they have been linked with various players, including Alejandro Garnacho's move from Manchester United.

"We always see the situation with the Director of Sports. We will see if anything happens," Maresca said at a press conference on Friday, January 24, 2025, ahead of the match against Manchester City on Sunday, January 26, 2025, early morning WIB.

Maresca further confirmed that his team's composition is currently still safe, including the winger option it has, amid rumors of interest in Garnacho.

"I'm happy with what we have right now. We've said many times on the right, Pedro (Neto) and Noni (Madueke) and the left is Jadon (Sancho)."

"Misha (Mykhailo Mudryk) is with us and is not with us (doping punishment) now. I think Tyrique (her) is a young player who can help us. So, right now, we're fine," said Maresca.

Meanwhile, Joao Felix has been linked with a move from Stamford Bridge having a limited playing time this season.

AC Milan is reportedly attracted to the 25-year-old player. Maresca also emphasized that the Portuguese player would be retained.

According to him, the minutes of playing were minimal for Felix because his system only needed one attacking midfielder. Even so, the presence of the former Barcelona was still needed for the depth of the squad in the fighting sector.

"With Joao and Christo (Christopher Nkunku), most managers only play one attacking midfielder."

"They are top players, I like both. They are struggling because most of our time we only played with one attacking midfielder. I didn't say they would leave," said Maresca.

Chelsea had a tough match on Sunday, January 26, 2025. They will travel to Manchester City headquarters, Etihad Stadium, in the 23rd week of the 2024/2025 Premier League.

The Blues need positive results so that their position in fourth place is not coordinated by Manchester City, which recently lost an embarrassing defeat to Paris Saint-Germain 2-4 in the Champions League.
