Kylian Mbappe At Real Madrid: I've Adapted Now

Kylian Mbappe has started to feel comfortable at Real Madrid (Instagram/@realmadrid).

JAKARTA - Kylian Mbappe admits that he is now close to his best form after scoring two goals in Real Madrid's 4-1 win over Las Palmas on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

He said he had adapted to the team now and could play as he wanted.

In that match, Los Blancos fell behind in the first minute at the Bernabeu, before Mbappe hit back with a penalty spot.

Brahim Diaz then added a second goal and Mbappe scored the third goal to give Real Madrid a 3-1 lead in the first half, after another goal from the French player was ruled out for offside.

Rodrygo closed the goal party which made the score 4-1 in the second half. While goals from Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde were ruled out by VAR.

"I am very happy. I have adapted to the team now. I can play as I wish, with my teammates, with personality. We all enjoyed it," Mbappe told Real Madrid TV, when asked about the Bernabeu audience chanting his name during the match.

Mbappe faced criticism for his performances at the start of the season, but has now scored 18 goals in all competitions, including four goals in his last three appearances this week.

Real Madrid's victory made them take advantage of the slip of Atletico Madrid - who lost 0-1 to Leganes - and Barcelona, who drew 1-1 at Getafe headquarters.

"It was an important game, we know what happened yesterday with Atletico and Barcelona."

"We wanted to win and we made it. We started badly, but the reaction was incredible."

"We were up front, playing fast, attacking the space with quality. We scored a lot of goals. We were happy because we were leaders," Mbappe said again.

The victory over Las Palmas was a convincing response after losing 2-5 to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final (Supercopa de Espana).

Los Blancos have then received a motivational injection after beating Celta Vigo 5-2 despite the need for extra time.

The victory over Las Palmas, which is La Liga's second match in 2025, puts them ahead of the standings (46 points) with a difference of two points from Atletico Madrid.

"I'm proud of the (team) reaction. Losing in the Spanish Super Cup is tough. Even though we played well in the Copa del Rey, we made a mistake and had to go through extra time."

"However, we have a character to win. Now we depend on ourselves to win the league," Mbappe said.

Meanwhile, Manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Mbappe as the best center-forward in the world for his ability to answer criticism and bring Real Madrid back.

"People doubt if he can play there. He's a great striker, who feels comfortable in the middle."

"The movement is unique and plays inside, he can make the best of it," said the Italian coach.

Furthermore, Ancelotti tried to slap back at the critics who were noisy after Real Madrid lost to Barcelona. According to him, criticism of the troop's performance was too excessive.

"I'm still a bit confused. There are days when we play really bad, but what I see is Real Madrid is a leader."

"I will continue to learn, to see if I am wrong. There are criticisms and there are criticisms."

"The call from Bernabeu was painful and motivated us. It was a useful warning," Ancelotti told a news conference after his match against Las Palmas.
