Shin Tae-yong's Son Is Angry, Condemns The Implementation Of PSSI To His Father For Five Years

Shin Tae-yong must end togetherness with the Indonesian National Team (VOI/Ferry Tri Adi Sasono).

JAKARTA - Shin Jae-won, Shin Tae-yong's son who is also a player in Seongnam FC, was angry with the dismissal of his father from the Indonesian National Team coach seat.

Shin Tae-yong was officially removed from his position by PSSI on Monday, January 6, 2025.

"This decision was made based on long and careful considerations as well as the evaluation carried out by PSSI and the National Team Agency (BTN) as a whole of the performance of the Indonesian National Team and the long-term goals that the Indonesian national team wants to achieve."

"PSSI is grateful and appreciates all the contributions that have been made to the development of the Indonesian national team. PSSI hopes that Shin Tae-yong will do his best in the future," reads PSSI's official statement.

The news also made Shin Jae-won furious. Shin Tae-yong's eldest son uploaded his frustration on social media.

He could not hide his dissatisfaction with PSSI's decision.

"I'll see how far you go without Shin Tae-yong," wrote Shin Jae-won, launching Chosun.

Not only that, the 26-year-old midfielder also criticized that he would expose PSSI's treatment of Shin Tae-yong for five years in charge of the Indonesian national team at various age levels.

"Shin Tae-yong has done everything he can to bring Indonesia to the level it is now."

"I have a lot to say about how PSSI treated my father over the past five years, but I'm still keeping my mouth shut."

"Indonesia has moved up 50 places in FIFA rankings for five years and is in third place in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Third Round standings, but I can't believe my dad was fired?"

"We've worked a lot hard. Our family knows that my father has done his best for Indonesia," wrote Shin Jae-won again.

Shin Tae-yong signed a contract with the Indonesian national team in January 2020 until the summer of 2027.

The 55-year-old coach put Indonesia in third place in Group C of the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian Zone.

This shows his leadership for the first time accommodating the National Team to the stage of determining which countries will advance to the 2026 World Cup finals.

Shin Tae-yong also led the Garuda Squad to beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 in the sixth match of Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Third Round, November 2024, giving Indonesia the first victory over Saudi Arabia in history.

However, the 2024 AFF Cup (ASEAN Championship), is said to be the factor for Shin Tae-yong's expulsion.

In the ASEAN tournament, Indonesia, which competed with Vietnam, the Philippines, Myanmar and Laos in Group B, recorded one win, one draw, and two defeats in the group stage.

They finished third in the group standings and failed to advance to the semifinals.
