The Indonesian Women's National Team Is In The Top 100 In The FIFA World Rankings

JAKARTA - Chairman of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, expressed his joy at the achievements of the Indonesian women's national team which returned to the top 100 FIFA world rankings as of Friday, December 13. Indonesia is now ranked 97th in the world by collecting 1209.7 points, after winning the 2024 Women's AFF Cup. This ranking increased seven levels from the previous position on August 16, when Garuda Pertiwi was ranked 104th in the world with 1195.96 points.

"We at PSSI continue to work hard to make good programs, the selected players are also good, the coaches are making good preparations and all those involved in the women's national team journey," Erick said in a statement received by ANTARA, Saturday.

This rating increase reflects significant progress in Indonesian women's football and proves the results of PSSI's hard work, coach Satoru Mochizuki, player, and all parties who support women's football. Erick added, "This ranking increase is the result of a solid synergy."

Throughout this year, the Indonesian women's national team has displayed better performance with various victories in international events, including winning the 2024 Women's AFF Cup. This achievement is expected to increase public interest and attention to women's soccer in Indonesia and encourage the younger generation to be more involved in this sport. PSSI is committed to continuing to provide the facilities and programs needed to develop women's soccer talent in the country.

At the international level, the United States still leads the FIFA world ranking with 2087.55 points. Spain and Germany rose to second and third positions with 2028.65 points and 2012.29 points, respectively, shifting England to fourth place with 2004.52 points. The fifth position is occupied by Sweden with 1991.27 points. From Asia, Japan holds the highest FIFA ranking by being in eighth position with 1976.38 points.

This increase indicates a positive step for Indonesian women's soccer and gives great hope for the future.
