Fiorentina Vs. Inter Milan: Competitive Competition Of Two Scudetto Candidates

JAKARTA - After their victory in Europe, the rising Fiorentina and Inter Milan in Serie A will fight at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday night, December 1.

After seven consecutive wins, Fiorentina is now on par with defending Italian champions Inter Milan, who have been unbeaten since September, with Scudetto's rivalry getting fiercer.

Fiorentina have demonstrated a major transformation in recent months, with a series of wins both at home and away that brought them to the top four of Serie A. Prior to November's international break, Raffaele Palladino's side had won six consecutive league games, and they returned to action with a 2-0 win over Como last weekend, where Moise Kean scored a very important second goal.

Now, Fiorentina has the chance to break a record eight consecutive wins in Serie A, last recorded in 1960, after winning three other points in the European Conference League. On Thursday night, the team, which rotationally beat Pafos 3-2 at Stadio Franchi, making sure they qualify for the round of 16.

However, Fiorentina will face a test that may be the toughest: they have lost six times in their last eight meetings against Inter Milan in Serie A, with only one win since the 2017-18 season.

Inter Milan, on the other hand, are in excellent form. They are in the hunt to defend the Scudetto and are also unbeaten in the Champions League this season. In Serie A, they were in second place after beating RB Leipzig 1-0 on Tuesday night, while in the league, they displayed dominance, including a 5-0 win over Hellas Verona, where they scored five goals in just the first 45 minutes.

With five games in a row without conceding, Inter are getting closer to securing an automatic place in the last 16 of the Champions League. Fiorentina has to be careful, especially with Inter who have scored 18 goals before the first half of Serie A this season.

Fiorentina is expected to rotate again, as Raffaele Palladino tends to choose almost all different teams in the European Conference League. Therefore, Moise Kean, Robin Gosens, and David de Gea are expected to return to play.

The midfielder, Yacine Adli, could return after a minor injury that prevented him from appearing last Thursday, and Icelandian striker Albert Gudmundsson may also return after several weeks of absence, even though Amir Richardson is still injured.

Kean only needed one more goal to hit double digits in this league campaign, the second time after the 13 goals he scored for Paris Saint-Germain in the 2020-21 season. Meanwhile, Marcus Thuram from Inter is also in the best form of the season.

Inter Milan has only a shorter list of injuries, with Benjamin Pavard and Reservekeeper Raffaele Di Gennaro ruled out, while Francesco Acerbi and Davide Frattesi hope to be fit for play.
