JAKARTA - Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Jon Jones continues to reject the fight with Tom Aspinall who is the interim champion of the class.
"Of course, call me 'bebebek' for next year. Tom will lose in the next two or three fights and my legacy will continue as the greatest MMA fighter ever. The end of the story," wrote Jon Jones through his personal X account reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 30.
Over the past year, Jones has often received criticism from fans and media who suggest that he defend his UFC heavyweight title against Aspinall.
Jones did not question the comments of various parties who insinuated him by calling him "bebebek" for refusing to fight against Aspinall.
In his latest fight, the United States fighter managed to defend the title after overthrowing Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 with a technical knockout (TKO) victory.
Jones says fighting Miocic as one of the heavyweight fighters in the history of Mix Martial Art (MMA) is important for his legacy when he retires from mixed combat sports.
He was also firm in his belief that Aspinall, who set a record 8-1 at the UFC with a win over many opponents with the top 10, had not done enough to be able to fight him.
The chances against Aspinall were increasingly closed, as Jones lobbied to fight with current light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.
Jones said the certainty to fight again in the future depends on negotiations with the UFC.
"Wow, I'm so rich, I've achieved all my goals in this sport, hall of dimers, broke many records. A serious question, why should I fight again," wrote Jones.

He admitted that he would not fight again at all and vacated the belt before officially retiring.
"I'll probably empty the belt before officially retiring. Let's see how my meeting with the UFC takes place".
Jones also emphasized that he was called "bebebek" not to bother him because of everything he had got in his career at MMA.
"Two fights in four years and still one of the biggest names in this sport? It's not a lie, it's a win. God's gift is different," wrote Jones.
