JAKARTA The women's doubles Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi are enthusiastic about their debut at the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals after being eliminated from the 2024 China Masters event.

Febriana/Amallia returned to the quarter-finals after losing two straight games 12-21 and 18-21 against third seed Japan, Namibia Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida, on Friday, November 22, 2024, evening WIB.

This defeat left Febriana/Amallia with a long time remaining to prepare to appear at the BWF World Tour Finals in early December 2024, which is the closing tournament of the season.

"After returning from here we will (make) preparations again. The opponent is (the badminton player from) the top eight (world so that it must be) tough, but we have to be ready," said Febriana.

The success achieved by Febriana/Amallia to appear in Hangzhou will at the same time maintain the tradition of Indonesian women's doubles. Since this event began in 2018, the Indonesian women's doubles sector has never been absent.

In the first four editions, the Indonesian women's doubles was represented by Apriyani Rahayu/Greysia Polii. Apriyani then continued the tradition with Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti in 2022 and 2023.

However, Apriyani is currently injured, so she also has to break up a partnership with Fadia. At the 2024 China Masters, Fadia played with his new partner Lanny Tria Mayasari.

The good news is that Febriana/Amallia are able to show off to replace their colleagues. They also secured tickets to this event after being able to reach the quarter-finals at the 2024 China Masters.

"Happy and very enthusiastic to be able to qualify for the first World Tour Finals throughout our career. (This is) one of our dreams," said Amalia.

Currently, Indonesia already has three representatives who will definitely play in the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals. The other two are Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

The BWF World Tour Finals 2024 will take place from 10-15 December 2024 at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center. The total prizes up for grabs were two million dollars or Rp 31.8 billion.
