Hamilton's Decision To Leave Mercedes Right

JAKARTA - Lewis Hamilton implies that his decision to leave Mercedes at the end of the 2024 Formula One season is correct.

He further upheld the decision after the failure of the Brazilian GP in early November 2024.

The 39-year-old is considering his future seriously as his Mercedes is the worst ever.

Hamilton left Mercedes because it was difficult to compete in the race for the F1 world champion this season.

The seven-time world champion from England has had the worst few days of F1's career.

At the 2024 Brazilian GP, Hamilton described his car as a weekend disaster.

Hamilton finished 10th in the rainy Sao Paulo Grand Prix, having crossed the 11th finish line in the Sprint Race Interlagos 24 hours earlier.

"If this is the last time I've performed, it's a shame, it's not great, but I thank you," Hamilton said.

Hamilton will join Ferrari in F1 next season. However, there are still three races left this season that he has to go through with Mercedes.

Nearby, he will face the Las Vegas Grand Prix this weekend. However, the problem is that he is already fed up with Mercedes.

After the Brazilian GP, he made a statement to leave Mercedes before this season ended.

"At that time, that's how I felt, like I didn't really want to come back after that weekend. That's natural."

"It's really frustrating when you're going through a season like this, which I'm sure I won't experience again, or at least I'll try not to experience it again."

"It wasn't a great feeling at the time, but I'm here. I'm still strong and I'm going to give everything for the last few races," Hamilton said at The Sun.

Hamilton finished 50 seconds behind Brazil's GP winner, Max Verstappen, despite the three-time world champion from Red Bull starting the race behind the Briton.

Lewis Hamilton this season is seventh in the drivers' standings with 190 points, 203 points clear of Verstappen at the top.

He has only won twice this season, namely at the British and Belgian GPs. However, before reaching the first podium at the British GP, Hamilton had never won in two and a half years.

In fact, Hamilton has no problems with the team or the Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff.

However, according to him, the Mercedes car has been uncompetitive in recent seasons.

That situation made him leave Mercedes rather than be kicked out because he was deemed unfit to compete.

"No (want to prove something). I'm just here, stand tall, and feel strong. I've been training well, I feel great."

Lewis Hamilton has been with Mercedes for 12 years. Six of his seven F1 world titles were won with Mercedes.

In addition to the Las Vegas GP race on November 24, 2024, Hamilton still has to race with Mercedes at the remaining two GPs, namely Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
