Asian Zone 2026 World Cup Qualification Results: Japan And Iran Guaranteed

Japan has a great chance of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup finals (doc. AFC).

JAKARTA - The sixth Matchday of the 2026 Asian Zone World Cup Qualification will be completed on November 19, 2024.

The competition from the three groups is getting more and more interesting. Group C, which is inhabited by the Indonesian national team, is the strictest because the second place is only one point apart from the third to sixth positions.

The Indonesian national team managed to finish the sixth match of Group C with a 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia.

The result led them to push from bottom to third in the standings with six points.

Judging from the points far from other contestants, the Blue Samurai have a big chance of being in the top two of the final standings of Group C.

Another secure team like Japan is Iran. The leader of Group A also has 16 points from five wins and one draw.

In the sixth match, Iran was finally able to confirm three points through Sardad Azmoun's goal after Kyrgyzstan equalized 2-2.

If in the remaining four matches Iran reaps the rewards of profit, at least they can continue to the Fourth Round.

However, the chance is small considering that Iran is very strong in Group A. They clearly aim to qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup finals by occupying the top two of the final standings.

Finally, Group B is still opening up quite a tight competition. No team has yet been guaranteed like Japan and Iran.

South Korea and Iraq at the top and second stairs are still not safe from the pursuit of other contestants.

You see, South Korea only won the 1-1 draw against Palestine in the sixth match. Son Heung-min and colleagues now pack 14 points.

Iraq, which trailed South Korea, won a narrow 1-0 victory over Oman. The result kept them away from the pursuit of Jordan, who fortunately drew 1-1 against Kuwait.
