JAKARTA The captain of the Indonesian Women's Futsal National Team, Novita Murni Piranti, hopes that she and her colleagues can follow in the footsteps of the Indonesian Men's Futsal National Team when appearing at the 2024 ASEAN Women's Futsal Championship or the Women's AFF Cup.

The event will take place on November 16-21, 2024 in Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines. The Indonesian Women's Futsal national team went there with a target to win.

Novita said that she and colleagues had undergone thorough preparations for the event even though they did not undergo any international trials at all.

"So, hopefully we can get results like a men's team," said Novita when released by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo at the Kemenpora Office, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, afternoon WIB.

Previously, the Indonesian Men's Futsal National Team won the 2024 AFF Futsal Cup after defeating Vietnam in the final match, Sunday, November 10, 2024.

It was Indonesia's second title from the AFF Cup and ended the drought for more than a decade. Indonesia previously won the first title in the 2010 edition.

Novita admits that this achievement will also spur their motivation even though Thailand and Vietnam will become tough competitors.

He said that with the current squad composition, the achievements of the men's team are not impossible to follow.

"For the squad now, I also trust them. Moreover, now there are many young players too. Hopefully this squad can get the best results," he said.

ASEAN Women's Futsal Championship 2024 was only attended by five teams. The other four teams are the host of the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and Myanmar.

All of these teams are in the same group and face each other. The top two teams will get tickets to the final, while the fourth position will take third place.

Indonesia will start the fight against Thailand. The consecutive opponents after that were Vientman, Myanmar, and the Philippines.
