Korea Masters 2024: Indonesian Men's Doubles Run Out In The Second Round

JAKARTA Two Indonesian men's doubles pairs who played at the Korea Masters 2024 both fell in the second half on Thursday, November 7, WIB night.

Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin became the first representatives to lift their suitcases after being beaten in the rubber games 21-11, 10-21, and 16-21 by the host doubles, Jin Yong/Kim Won-ho.

"We have tried as well as we can and have attacked, but their defense is very tight. In the end, we died a lot by ourselves," said Fikri.

This result also dives into Fikri/Daniel records since being reshuffled as a couple. Of the six tournaments that have been undertaken, they have not even made it to the final once.

Their best journey in that period was three times to become semifinalist. This is different from Leo Rolly Carnando and Bagas Maulana, who were their previous colleagues.

Leo/Bagas have also undergone six tournaments since dirotation. As a result, they came out once as champions when they appeared at the Korea Open in August 2024.

Fikri/Daniel will next play at the 2024 Kumamoto Masters next week in Japan. In that tournament, they immediately met Leo/Bagas in the first round.

"We have to be more prepared. The preparations are finalized, the focus and courage. We certainly want better results than now," said Fikri.

The other men's doubles that were eliminated were Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani. The pair were beaten by Ming Che Lu/Tang Kai Wei in two straight games 20-22 and 16-21.

The defeat of the two men's doubles pairs makes Indonesia now only have three representatives in the Super 300 BWF level tournament.

They are the women's singles Putri Kusuma Wardani, mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanulle Widjaja, and women's doubles Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.
