JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik Hidayat opened the 48th Asian School Football U-18 Championship (ASFC) 2024 in Solo, Central Java.
"On behalf of the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports, I would like to thank the local government for the welcome of Solo City," said Taufik at the opening of the 2024 ASFC in Solo, Central Java, Saturday.
He hopes that the event can increase the potential of young athletes in sports development, especially in football by bringing together talented students from various countries in Asia.
"All of you are representatives of the younger generation who have extraordinary passion, determination, and skills in the field of sports," he said.
He said the courage of students to compete at the international level is proof of hard work, discipline, and dedication.
"As a former athlete, I want to convey that sports are not just winning and getting medals but also how to appreciate the process and understand the importance of hard work," he said, quoted by Antara.

He also hopes that the participants can make this tournament a motivation to develop themselves.
