Sporting Confirms Ruben Amorim Is Getting Closer To Replaceing Ten Hag At Manchester United

Ruben Amorim is getting closer to replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United (doc. Sporting).

JAKARTA - Manchester United's efforts to recruit Sporting CP coach, Ruben Amorim, to replace Erik ten Hag are getting closer.

The Portuguese club told that the Red Devils had confirmed their willingness to pay a mortificate release clause of 10 million euros.

Amorim is scheduled to take over Sporting in the Taca da Liga (Porta League Cup) match against Nacional at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, early morning WIB.

However, that match could be the last match for the 39-year-old coach as Sporting CP coach after confirming his move to Manchester United.

Sporting has also reported to CMVM (Party football financial regulator) about any significant impact on the club's business regarding the release of Amorism.

They have released a statement this afternoon outlining Manchester United's offer for the atmosphere.

"Sporting, based on the provisions and for the purpose of fulfilling information obligations arising from the provisions of Article 17, Regulation (EU) No. 596/2014, the European Parliament and the Council on April 16, inform the exchange with the following provisions."

"First, Manchester United FC expressed interest in recruiting coach Ruben Amorim. The Sporting SAD Board of Directors refers to the terms and conditions stipulated in the applicable work contracts between companies and coaches, particularly for clauses for termination of their respective employments and a total of 10 million euros."

"Second, Manchester United FC expressed interest in paying Sporting SAD for a number of clauses," reads CMVM's statement.

While it is not yet clear at this stage whether Amoram has accepted the proposal to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, sources told ESPN that the Red Devils are determined to seal a deal with Amorim before the Premier League match against Chelsea this weekend.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was recruited as Ten Hag's assistant manager during the summer, has been appointed interim head coach until permanent management appointments are made.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward will be responsible for the Carabao Cup match against Leicester City on Thursday, October 31, 2024, early morning WIB, at Old Trafford.

However, there is a good chance Leicester's game will be Van Nistelrooy's only game as coach if talks with Sporting and Amorism continue to run smoothly.

Meanwhile, Amorim has guided Sporting to two league titles since arriving at the club from Braga in 2020.

Prior to the appointment of Amorism, Sporting had been waiting 19 years to end their title drought.

The former Portugal midfielder was also targeted by Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and West Ham to fill the vacant manager position last season.

However, Amorim finally decided on his future to stay in Sporting at the end of last season.

Reports in Portugal say Sporting is currently preparing to leave this week.

As a temporary replacement, Sporting appointed the coach of team B of the club, Joao Pereira, to take over until the end of the season.
