2024 MotoGP Standings After Thailand GP: Only Martin And Bagnaia

JAKARTA The hunt for the 2024 MotoGP title will certainly only belong to Francesco Bagnaia who won the Thai Grand Prix and Jorge Martin who is runner up.

Bagnaia, the reigning champion, dominated most of the race after starting from the first position and finishing with a time of 43 minutes 38.108 seconds at the Buriram Circuit, Thailand, on Sunday, October 27 yesterday.

Bagnaia is +2,905 seconds ahead of title rivals this season Jorge Martin who finished second and +3,800 seconds from rookie Pedrodeca who completed the third podium.

Overall, this is the ninth victory that Bagnaia has secured this season.

This result made Bagnaia again cut the point gap with Martin. The Italian rider now collects 436 points in second place or 17 points adrift of Martin in first place in the drivers' standings.

With this difference in points, the title race between the two riders this season will most likely last until the final draw later.

After this the two names will continue their competition at the Malaysian Grand Prix on November 1-3 and the final series in Valencia, Spain, on November 15-17.

Meanwhile, Marc Marquez, who finished 11th in Thailand, is confirmed to be out of the constellation for the title. The six-time MotoGP world champion is currently in third place in the standings with a collection of 356 points.

This means that mathematically the rider nicknamed The Baby Alien only gets 430 points if he wins in the sprint race and the main race in the remaining two series this season.

Marquez actually performed well in Thailand. He had taken over the leading position even though he started the race from fifth position, but then fell.

Thus, Marquez is now only struggling to lock up the third position against Enea Bastianini who is currently in fourth position. Both are only 11 points away.
