Francesco Totti Contacted By Serie A Club, Back To Play?

JAKARTA - AS Roma legend and Italian national team Francesco Totti claims that a Serie A team is still contacting him to ask whether he will return to play professional football or not.

Totti also showed interest. He said it would take two to three months of training to get back in shape.

"There was a Serie A team that contacted me. I admit that they made me think a little bit, a little crazy."

"It will be difficult, but in life you never say no. There are players who have played years after the end of their careers."

"It also depends on where you play, with all due respect. If I go back to Serie A, I have to train very well," Totti said.

Totti, who is now 48 years old, retired from football in 2017 after spending his entire career with Roma. He has played 786 times and scored 307 goals for the Giallorossi.

However, the 2006 World Cup winner and the Italian national team said that when it is true that he will return to play, he will refuse to defend Roma's tough rival Lazio.

"Lazio? I wouldn't even consider it. I'll be ready in two to three months, I'm still playing at the age of 48."

"If I had to do something crazy, I would do it in Italy, not abroad, but that's crazy," said Totti again.

Totti, who made 58 appearances for Italy, also said that retiring was not his choice.

"When you flip the page, you'll never know what's waiting for you. It's not my choice, but at that time, it had to be experienced differently from the context," he said.

"Maybe that's also why I have that in me. It's true that there is a start and an end to everything. I don't want it, so that opportunity (playing again) remains open."

Roma had a difficult start to the 2023/2024 season. The Giallorossi sacked Totti's club mate, Daniele De Rossi, after failing to win a single of their first four league games.

This season, Roma are in 10th place in the standings. Ivan Juric has won two of his four domestic matches since taking over the head coach seat.
