LeBron James Makes History Playing With Children In NBA Matches

JAKARTA - LeBron James made history as the first basketball player in the history of the National Basketball Association (NBA) to play with his son, Bronny James, in one match.

The father-son who both defended the Los Angeles Lakers played together when their team won over the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103 in the first match of the NBA 2024/2025 on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

LeBron, who spent most of his life in basketball so he had minimal time sharing with his family, said he was happy to have this opportunity.

In the duel, LeBron James came down as a starter and had played for 13 minutes before being replaced. He then went on the pitch again with his son in the second quarter with four minutes remaining.

The action from Lebron and his son was witnessed from the sidelines by Kenxiney Sr. and Kenxiney Jr., who made history in Major League Baseball while playing for Seattle Mariners as father and son in 1990-1991.

"I am very grateful for everything. I was given an extraordinary opportunity to enter this league and be better every day and learn every day," said Bronny.

Bronny joined the LA Lakers as a second round option from the University of Southern California in June 2024.

As for LeBron, who is 39 years old, is the NBA's all-time leading scorer. During his career in the most prestigious basketball league he has won four times.

The veteran is now entering his 22nd season in the NBA and has not said when he plans to end his career.

He signed a new two-year contract with the LA Lakers after Bronny's arrival.

LeBron managed to collect eight points and three rebounds in 17 minutes before the break. He then ended the game with 16 points in 35 minutes of appearance.

Meanwhile, Anthony Davis dominated with 36 points and 16 rebounds, followed by Rui Hachimura adding 18 points to the Lakers, and Austin Reaves getting 12 points.
