Veddriq Leonardo Donates Gold Medal At IFSC Madrid 4 Speed

Indonesian rock climbing athlete Veddriq Leonard contributed gold at IFSC Madrid 4 Speed (doc. FPTI Public Relations).

JAKARTA Indonesia's mainstay rock climbing athlete, Veddriq Leonardo, contributed to the gold medal on the second day of the IFSC Madrid 4 Speed event.

The gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics received two gold medals, each from the men's individual speed number (2 lanes) and the men's relay team with Kiromal Katibin.

Veddriq won gold in the final of the men's individual standard speed number (2 lanes) after defeating his compatriot, Rahmad Adi Mulyono.

In that fight, Veddriq finished with a time of 5.06 seconds, while Rahmad finished with a time of 5.14 seconds in second place to get silver.

As for the men's relay team, Veddriq Leonardo and Kiromal Katibin won gold medals after successfully packing a total of 10,235 seconds to beat the fall Chinese men's relay team.

Another gold medal was also obtained by the Indonesian women's relay team represented by Rajiah Sallsabillah and Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi.

The pair finished with a total time of 13.865 seconds or ahead of the Chinese women's relay team which recorded a time of 15.566 seconds.

This result makes the Indonesian rock climbing national team total four gold medals, one silver medal, and three bronze medals at the IFSC Madrid 4 Speed event.

In addition to changing the format at the women's and men's speed, the tournament in Madrid is also a trial event for the speed relay number in a two-athlet format against two athletes.

This is different from the usual speed relay which uses the three athletes format against three athletes.

The tournament's new format for the men's and women's individual speed numbers will be further tested at The 2025 World Games which will be held in Chengdu, China in 2025.
