Denmark Open 2024: Putri KW Runs Aground In The Semifinals

JAKARTA The Indonesian women's singles badminton player, Putri Kusuma Wardani, failed to reach the Denmark Open 2024 final after losing against second seed Wang Zhi Yi.

The 22-year-old player's journey ran aground in the hands of the Chinese representative in two straight games 20-22 and 14-21 at Jyske Bank Arena, on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

"Today's match was quite tiring. He played quite well and it was difficult to turn off. Several times I gave a difficult ball, but he was able to overcome it," said Putri after the match as accepted in the statement.

This defeat further worsened Putri's record as Wang. Of their three clashes, the Tangerang-born badminton player did not win once.

Two defeats suffered by Putri before in Denmark, all of which occurred in 2018. At that time, these two athletes were still competing at the junior level.

Putri said that she was still satisfied with the trip at the BWF Super 750 level tournament. Moreover, this is his first semifinal at that level.

"Hopefully later if I have the opportunity to play at the World Tour Super 1000, I can give a more maximum game. Hopefully the results can be better than today," he said.

The remaining tournaments in this year's calendar are no longer in the Super 1000 level. However, there are still several major tournaments that the Princess can participate in.

Among them are Hylo Open (Super 300), Korea Masters (Super 300), Japan Masters (Super 500), China Masters (Super 750), and finally Syed Modi International (Super 300).
