Denmark Open 2024: Three Indonesian Representatives Left In The Semifinals

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto are one of three Indonesian representatives to the semifinals of the Denmark Open 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - Four Indonesian representatives who fought in the quarter-finals of the Denmark Open 2024 on Friday, October 18, 2024, not all of them were able to advance to the next round.

Only three managed to advance to the semifinals. The only representative who failed to reach the top four was the mixed doubles Rinov Rivaldi/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.

Rinov/Pitha were eliminated after being beaten by the second-seeded Chinese mixed doubles in the tournament, Jiang Zheng Bang/Wei Ya Xin, through a rubber game, 11-21, 21-17, and 19-21.

Meanwhile, the other three representatives who qualified for the semifinals were Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Putri Kusuma Wardani, and the men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

Gregoria became the first badminton player to get a ticket for the top four. He managed to beat India's singles, Pusarla V. Sindhu, through a rubber game duel, 21-13, 16-21, and 21-9.

Gregoria's move was then followed by her partner from the women's singles. Putri KW also advanced to the semifinals through a fierce battle.

Putri KW managed to get up against Singapore's singles, Yeo Jia Min. Having lost in the first set with a score of 20-22, Putri KW managed to secure the next two sets, 21-11 and 21-18.

Fajar/Rian became Indonesia's last representative to walk into the top four. He successfully silenced the British men's doubles, Ben Lane/Sean Vendy, two straight games, 21-15 and 21-19.

The victory made Fajar/Rian keep their distance in the meeting record to 5-3.

Three Indonesian representatives who advance to the semifinals will compete on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Gregoria had to face a strong opponent from South Korea, An Se-young, who is also the world's number one seed and badminton player.

Then, Putri KW is no less heavy. He will meet the second seed from China, Wang Zhiyi.
